“I do not understand what I do not create.”

Richard Feynman

At Bealings, scientific thinking and ways of exploring our world are at the heart of our curriculum! Our scientific investigations are deeply contextualised and given additional meaning and relevance through our mantle of the expert investigations, ensuring inclusion for all in the team.

The natural curiosity and enthusiasm of children is further empowered as they raise questions, develop informed guesses/theories – often working as a group- which may answer these questions, test their theories, make many observations and collect results to see if they are valid! If not, will adjustments to the theory be enough? Or a whole new theory?!

In this work, Scientific Process is Key!

Being fascinated, asking questions, developing lines of enquiry which sometimes lead to a solution, and sometimes don’t, but loving the process of discovery and inventing, and all the time acquiring knowledge, skills, language, reasoning powers, persistence, concentration, confidence and a joy and passion for the process!!

“Give someone a fish and you feed them for a day

Teach someone to fish and you feed them for life.”

Knowledge is discovered and understood and the scientific contexts are tailored to the ages and interests of the children.
