Fieldwork

Every year the Years 5 and 6 children take a week long residential.

We make a bi-annual trip to St Ives, Cornwall, with the alternate year being a city visit – most recently, Liverpool, but also Edinburgh, Cambridge, Norwich and even Paris!

In St Ives we study the contrasting coast of Cornwall, as well as art studies at the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Garden, Tate St Ives and the St Ives Museum. This accompanies an in-depth study of the St Ives Artists carried out back in the classroom.

The rest of our classes have more local educational day visits, usually related to that term’s context. Recently we have visited Sutton Hoo, Ringsfield Hall (for a Stone Age experience day), Suffolk Owl Sanctuary and Jimmy’s Farm.

We are also lucky enough to have our school right on the Fynn Valley Path, so we often get out and about to study the countryside around us.
