Music

“Music can pierce the heart directly; it needs no mediation.”

Oliver Sacks

“Music has a unifying effect on the people of the world because they all understand and love it, and when they find themselves enjoying and loving the same music, they feel themselves loving one another.”

Julia Perry, Composer

At Bealings, we love music!

Music is a vital part of our curriculum, where our children can develop their musicality, creativity, collaborative skills and confidence! Where our children can develop their musicality, their feel for music, through song, learning to play instruments and appreciation of music from many cultures and times.

Our children grow in these skills: singing, playing, listening, composing, improvising, understanding and reading notation.

Children learn to play ukulele, guitar, percussion instruments and keyboard instruments.

Children perform in our weekly meeting with our school community, both formally and informally.

There’s usually music heard around our school every playtime and lunchtime too, as children improvise using the many available instruments.

4 members of staff also play instruments and so live music is always heard!
