Welcome
Our vision is simple: children are encouraged to feel awe for their environment, to express themselves freely yet sensitively, and to appreciate the contribution of their own ideas and those of others. Our 105 children benefit from a high degree of autonomy and agency, making wise decisions and asking questions of their adults and of each other.
Learning
We view learning as a deeply social process. Our teachers, through extensive research, planning and design, bring the curriculum to life through utilising the techniques of Mantle of the Expert. They cocreate, alongside the children, fictional landscapes for learning while we, as members of an invented organisation or team, face tensions, problems, pose questions, find clues, invent theories, test our theories, adapt or invent new ones, to create solutions and ways forward in the work. Through this approach we co-create meaningful contexts, deep and richly layered, through which the curriculum lives.
Core Principles
One of the most important things for us as a school is finding a balance between the individual and the community. Every person is unique and different. How can we flourish as different people, exploring our own interests, whilst also contributing as members of a cooperative, interconnected and caring community? This question sits at the heart of everything we do.
