We recently had a very exciting new arrival! We always enjoy searching for and looking at worms in our garden. So, we now have a worm composter! If we put in old fruit and vegetable scraps, the worms work hard and turn it into lovely compost for our garden. We have to stop them escaping.
The Plug Monsters are still living in Percy the Park Keeper’s sink. We have been busy constructing the Plug Monsters’ homes out of tubes and pipes. We have made small ones on our light box, and big ones in the water tray. We have to make sure that Percy doesn’t put anything dangerous down his plug.
Percy has been ill, so Brave and Loyal Team have been doing some jobs for him, like rescuing rabbits on the field. The new bender makes a very good place for a rest and a snack.
We enjoyed watching the leaves fall from trees and trying to catch them. We even made up our own song called Leaves are Falling, which we performed for the whole school in assembly!
We have also started work on our Christmas play – Donkey for Sale. The part time children are going to be angels and the full time children are lambs.

It has been a busy half term for us all!
We have been helping Percy the Park Keeper and have recently been planting pansies and getting the vegetable bed ready for winter by weeding it and planting broad beans. We were very excited to find so many worms at work in our garden!
Following our bramble ramble, we have been busy cooking, as well as exploring the shapes and colours of the blackberries. We recently hung two large textiles inspired by the brambles, created with artist Heather Hodgson using a variety of techniques.
We really enjoyed hearing some fantastic stories and songs when Tuup came to visit the class.
One of our favourite games has been My Cat Likes to Hide in Boxes. We are getting very good at squeezing into the boxes!
In our Mantle of the Expert work, the Plug Monsters have been keeping us on our toes! Brave and Loyal Team have helped them realise which of Percy’s things they can and can’t eat. They usually remember! We recently helped Gonky when he was rejected by the other Plug Monsters.
Over on the field, the chicks are growing fast. We also enjoyed watching progress on the bender construction, and are looking forward to playing in it this half term.
September 2008
We have had an exciting start to the new term!
In the classroom, we have a Bear Cave. We have been helping Big Bear and Little Bear, and have been collecting acorns for their friend Squirrel.
We have also been outside sorting out our garden, planting lots of spring bulbs in the area around the classroom.
One day we went to see the school’s chickens. They have had some chicks!
In the afternoon, we have been exploring behind the Monster Door. The brave team found out that the Monster was friendly. We have just built him a new house to keep him safe and dry, and are making sure he doesn’t get lonely!
